Oakland’s Rickey Henderson wasted no time setting an all-time single-season baseball record today – he drew a leadoff walk against Tampa Bay, and immediately took off. He slid into second ahead of the throw from Toby Hall for his 131st stolen base of the season, breaking his own single-season record. He stole four bases total and has 134 with seven games left to play. After the game, the A’s speedster said “Rickey Henderson was a symbol of great base stealing, but today I am the greatest of all time. Thank you.”
